After a two-week hiatus from council meetings the Puyallup City Council will meet April 7 at the Community Resource Center.
At the meeting the council will discuss and consider several items ranging from equipment for the Puyallup Public Library to final plat approval for a development project.
> There will be a public hearing on a proposed development agreement for the Friedman Willow Pond Senior Housing Project. The parcels for the project are located at Third and 37th Streets Southeast. The council called for the public hearing at their March 17 meeting. After receiving public comment the council will then decide whether or not to move forward to the next step in approving the project.
> It is finally time to replace three self checkout machines for the Puyallup Public Library. The machines were expected to have a three to five year life span and were installed five years ago.
“We’d be happy to take them to six years, but they're broken,” City Manager Gary McLean said.
It will be up to the council to approve the $50,000 purchase of three new machines.
“It means that library staff is able to be around helping you find things rather than checking out materials,” McLean said. “It helps provide better customer service.”
> Final plat approval for the Puyallup Highlands phase two project will be asked of the city council. Moving toward the next step of the project means that the owners are ready to move forward with the sale of 52 lots on 15 acres, after meeting infrastructure requirements, like the installation of sidewalks, set by the Hearing Examiner in 2004.
> For the council’s approval, there is a motion to ratify an agreement with the city of Bonney Lake for dispatch services. The services would be provided by Puyallup and Bonney Lake would pay about $315,000 per year for those services.
> In other council news, the city council will discuss capital project programs as well as the city’s annexation policies at the April 14 city council study session.
The material warrants the time as study session topics, McLean said.
