Biggest Winners Jounral: Local continues her weight-loss journey, workouts

Published: April 17th, 2008 03:37 PM

Week four

This week has been pretty good. I was down just less than five pounds at the weigh in this week, which is exciting. Our exercise this week was pretty fun except I was pretty sore for the next two days, serving as a reminder.

We paired up and did a relay like event where we ran one lap of the track inside the YMCA and our teammate had to do wall sits, lunges, triceps curls and other things. My teammate, Anita, and I did awesome. We were the first done with our entire exercise. We then did more cardio stuff kind of like Zumba. Other than looking kind of goofy it was a lot of fun.

This weekend Jason and I went to the Orting-South Prairie trail and biked 10 miles. It was fun except for the end — it was all uphill. I was so ready to quit but my boyfriend Jason was very supportive and encouraged me the entire way. I was very excited to know that the next day I didn’t feel overly tired or sore.

We have a new challenge of seeing who has the most steps in a week. An average person should have about 10,000 a day. I am sure I move a lot but I am not sure if I move enough for the cut off. We will see next week I guess.

This Saturday is the YMCA kids run in Tacoma 5k, which is 3.1 miles. It is supposed to be nice out so I am excited to do this. My goal is to at least run half of the distance. I am looking forward to doing this. It will be my first official race with a number and everything.

We received our Biggest Winner tee-shirts so we have to wear them during our workouts and community events, so keep an eye out for the black, red, blue and green shirts and cheer them on. We all need some encouragement to keep us in the game and on track.

Tip for readers

I have found a good way to keep running when you are exhausted is to set a short goal, end of the street or a person you want to catch up with it makes the distance not seem so long. And once you get to that goal make a new one to achieve!
