Oct. 25 — MultiCare/Good Sam partnersip a good move

Mount Rainier and the Puget Sound aren’t always enough to attract new doctors to East Pierce County.

Some doctors say the Northwest environment helps, but the process of finding a physician remains rather difficult.

Good Samaritan Hospital has struggled in the past with this problem. Hospital executives have formerly acted as recruiters but only hired one doctor in 12 months.

Partnering with MultiCare has proven successful on this front almost immediately. This past January, five new doctors were brought to the area. In the months that followed, 10 more were hired. It’s employment that will benefit the entire community.

East Pierce is a fast growing community but also an aging one, making adequate medical needs especially important. It’s comforting to know that MultiCare and Good Samaritan are striving to meet those needs.
